This Red Bordeaux style cuvée is a 53/47% blend of two iconic regions, Napa and Santa Ynez Valley. The Cabernet Sauvignon is from St. Helena in Napa Valley and the Merlot of course is from the clay based soils of Los Carneros. While the Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are both from our cooler and local regions right here in Santa Ynez. The final blend is 37% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, and to finish it off - 10% Petit Verdot.

2019 Dérive Red Bordeaux Blend

Varietal Selection: 40% Cabernet Franc, 39% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot.

Growing Season: 2019 was a classic vintage. Warm fall conditions with cool nights resulted in exceptional acidity and near perfect phenolic ripeness.

Brix at Harvest: 24-25 Brix

Chemistry: Finished total acidity 0.55 with a pH of 3.68, Alc. 14.5%

Fermentation / Élevage: 66% new French oak. 20 months in barrel, and bottled unfined, unfiltered.
